WWE star Drew McIntyre could turn babyface in the near future.

McIntyre is set to face Jacob Fatu in an unsanctioned match at WrestleMania 42. This rivalry started when Fatu returned from his hiatus on the January 9, 2026, episode of SmackDown and attacked both Cody Rhodes and McIntyre during their match.

While this inadvertently helped McIntyre win the Undisputed WWE Championship, Fatu later ensured that McIntyre lost the title back to Rhodes in March. McIntyre blames Fatu for costing him his WrestleMania main event and championship, and the two have been embroiled in an intense rivalry for the past few weeks.

Drew McIntyre Teases Babyface Turn Ahead of WWE WrestleMania 42 Match

Ahead of his upcoming clash with The Samoan Werewolf, Drew McIntyre sat down with Chris Van Vliet for an interview on his Insight podcast, where he talked about his current rivalry. McIntyre stated that after he’s done with Fatu, he believes WWE could turn him into a babyface.

“After the stuff I’ve been doing with Jacob, I know McIntyre’s right back on track to where we need to be. Which I believe inevitably is going to lead to a big babyface run down the line — but I’m not trying to get there anytime soon.”

McIntyre has been a heel in WWE for a while now. He officially turned heel on Monday Night RAW by attacking Jey Uso, which cost the team of Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship against The Judgment Day on November 13, 2023.

Since he turned heel, McIntyre has had fierce rivalries with Jey Uso, Seth Rollins, CM Punk, Damian Priest, and Cody Rhodes. He has also had several intense encounters with Sami Zayn, Randy Orton, and Sheamus as a heel.
