Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton got an unofficial visit from a former WWE partner at WrestleMania 42.

Ex-wrestler and member of The Legacy faction, Ted DiBiase Jr., was present in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, April 18.

On Night 1, Rhodes defended his championship in the main event against Orton, who was accompanied by NFL punter Pat McAfee.

McAfee created an early impact by attacking Rhodes with a microphone. He was soon neutralized by Rhodes and put through a table by Grammy Award-winning artist Jelly Roll.

The match itself witnessed intense action, as both wrestlers got busted open. Rhodes even copied several of Orton’s moves and taunts, even hitting a low blow on The Viper when the referee was distracted.

Later in the match, referee Charles Robinson took a bump, prompting McAfee to return wearing a referee’s t-shirt and a brace around his neck.

However, following an unsuccessful pinfall attempt, The Apex Predator took out McAfee with an RKO. Rhodes took advantage of the distraction and hit Orton with the Cross Rhodes for the win.

As Rhodes celebrated, Orton snatched the Undisputed WWE Championship from his hands and hit him across the head with it. He then executed a punt kick that made Rhodes lose his balance and fall on the mat face-first.

Orton was later spotted checking on his former Legacy stablemate, who had now developed a gash on the top of his left eye, owing to the punt kick.

Ted DiBiase Jr. Attends WWE WrestleMania 42

During his WWE run, Ted DiBiase Jr. aligned with Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes as part of The Legacy faction between 2008 and 2010, where he became the World Tag Team Champion twice.

DiBiase shared a selfie video of himself from Allegiant Stadium, which he captioned “I see you,” seemingly announcing that he had his eyes on his ex-stablemates.

Since 2022, he was involved in a scandal over the misuse of welfare funds in Mississippi. As a result, the Mississippi Department of Human Services sued him, his father, WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase, and several other individuals to recover more than $20 million.

Reports claimed that if found guilty, he could face up to 45 years in prison.

During a hearing in late March, he was cleared of 13 charges, including money laundering and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Despite him being cleared, his brother pleaded guilty to federal and state charges over misusing grant money.

While speaking on a recent episode of his Everybody’s Got A Pod podcast, Ted DiBiase Sr. discussed his son’s potential return to WWE.

All the guys that he started with, they’re there, and they’re the stars now. Orton, Cody… So, I just wonder, maybe it’s me wanting to see something happen…See my son kind of come out of the crowd and get in the ring.

All those fans that are listening, believe me, I don’t have a clue. I’m just maybe, maybe wishful thinking. Like, okay, maybe this is the start of him coming back and getting back in the business. I wish he really, I mean, he’s not too old to still do it. [H/T: Asatunews]
