[Watch] Cody Rhodes’ Heart-Warming Reunion With Ex-AEW Star At Royal Rumble

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes recently competed in the men’s Royal Rumble match in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

While he was one of the star attractions, another superstar made his debut for WWE. Royce Keys, who knew Rhodes from their AEW days together, signed with the Stamford promotion in late January.

At All Elite Wrestling, Keys competed under the name Powerhouse Hobbs and was part of The Opps faction. There, he was a one-time TNT Champion and a Trios World Champion.

WWE recently shared a behind-the-scenes video on its YouTube page featuring Keys ahead of his in-ring debut.

One of its segments saw Cody Rhodes emerge from behind the 35-year-old as they reunited in WWE for the first time.

Rhodes: Don’t believe a word he’s saying. This is not the music that I wanted to hear. This is not it.

Keys: He’s probably gonna get mad, but this dude doesn’t know how special he is to me.

Rhodes: It is the music I want to hear. My boy, enjoy. [0:45 onwards]

The two superstars hugged before The American Nightmare left. Keys then recalled Rhodes being there for him when his mother passed away.

Cody Rhodes-Drew McIntyre Drama Continues At Royal Rumble

On the January 9 episode of SmackDown, Cody Rhodes dropped his Undisputed WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre in a Three Stages of Hell match.

Their feud also saw ‘The Samoan Werewolf,’ Jacob Fatu, enter the fray.

At the Rumble, McIntyre successfully defended his championship against Sami Zayn, who had won a 4-way match to become the #1 Contender.

In the Royal Rumble match, Rhodes and Fatu entered at #11 and #27, respectively, but as soon as Fatu entered the ring, Rhodes went after him.

After a while, the two men brawled again, when a spot left Rhodes hanging on the top rope. McIntyre emerged from the crowd and hit the 40-year-old with a Claymore Kick, eliminating him from the match.

Several reports have claimed that McIntyre, Rhodes, and Fatu will fight in a 3-way match at WrestleMania 42.
