Cody Rhodes Confesses To “Very Hypocritical” WWE Moment
Cody Rhodes made a surprising WWE confession.
The American Nightmare returned to WWE in 2022, almost a decade after he left the promotion. His first feud back was with Seth Rollins. After beating The Visionary at WrestleMania 38, Rhodes defeated him again at WrestleMania Backlash.
The two superstars were later announced for a third fight at Hell in a Cell that same year. Before the match, Rhodes suffered a torn right pectoral tendon. Nevertheless, he still competed with the injury and beat the former World Heavyweight Champion.
Cody Rhodes Addressed His Family’s Reaction To Competing Injured
In a recent interview with CHGO Wrestling, Cody Rhodes recalled his family’s reaction to his injury ahead of his Hell in a Cell match against Seth Rollins.
The 40-year-old revealed that his wife told him he had to wrestle the match, while his mom treated it as another day at the office. Meanwhile, his sister knew he would not miss the opportunity despite his injury. Rhodes also called competing while injured a “hypocritical moment,” since he teaches his students at The Nightmare Factory not to do the same.
I teach the kids at The Nightmare Factory, ‘You always wrestle hurt, never wrestle injured.’ It was a very hypocritical moment for me. I on to the WWE doctor and I don’t know if they’d let it fly. But the truth was I had strength in the arms. Couldn’t damage it more. It was gone. There was nothing left. It was just hanging. And I wanted to see how long I could go really. [8:29 onwards]
