CM Punk Given Special Status Within WWE

One question surrounding CM Punk’s return to WWE appears to have been answered.

CM Punk made his shocking return to WWE at Survivor Series almost a decade after walking out of the company. The move came less than three months after the star was fired from AEW with cause for an altercation with Jack Perry backstage at All In.

While he didn’t say anything on his first appearance, Punk was given a live microphone on the November 27th edition of WWE Raw. While some thought he would mention his AEW departure, Punk instead used the time to declare he was “home” in WWE.

Although Punk made this appearance on Raw, it seems that isn’t going to be restricted to the red brand. According to a report from PWInsider, the Straight Edge Superstar is listed internally as a ‘free agent,’ meaning he can appear on both Raw and SmackDown going forward.

What’s Next For CM Punk In WWE?

According to reports, there is “reason to believe” CM Punk is on a collison course with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40. While Punk received a positive reception from fans on his WWE return, Rollins visibly showed his anger and had select words for the star at Survivor Series as he was being held back by Michael Cole and Cory Graves.

Seemingly, this rivalry will be followed up with another former Shield member, as there are also said to be plans for Punk to go toe-to-toe with The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns down the line.
