Is Chris Jericho In The Mystery Box? WWE Legend Answers

Chris Jericho

Could Chris Jericho really be locked inside a wooden box until WWE Elimination Chamber?

Adam Pearce might well be singing, “I’ve got a big box, yes I do, I’ve got a big box, how about you?” to his SmackDown counterpart Nick Aldis, after a mysterious crate backstage appeared on RAW. Aldis might well retort, “Yes”, because Pearce then sent that box to SmackDown for Aldis to have to deal with.

The box says it is not to be opened until the date of Elimination Chamber, and the mystery continues regarding its contents. But as Jim Cornette once famously claimed, anyone who comes out of a box is instantly over.

Many fans have rushed to suggest that AEW star Chris Jericho might well be inside the box as rumours of his jump to WWE continue to gather pace.

Is Chris Jericho In The Box?

Speaking on TMZ’s Inside The Ring, WWE Hall of Famer JBL was asked what he thought about Jericho being the potential surprise, and he discussed his long history with Jericho, noting he hopes the star is going to make his return to WWE:

I don’t know. Oh, I’ve heard so many rumors about Chris and I remember I was in the early 90s. We were — I was working for Tenryu Genichiro over in Japan for WAR, and he was there. Chris had got a job working as one of the, at the time, the light heavyweights.

I remember seeing him and thinking if that guy lives he’s going to be awesome. I mean, they were doing — talk about these guys today — they were doing DDTs off the apron to the floor. They’re doing — I mean, it was crazy what they were doing back then.

And I remember how talented I thought he was then. And, you know, he’s just been fantastic and he keeps finding ways to reinvent himself. I don’t know if Chris is coming or not. I hope he is. I think it’d be great if he is.

However, it might not be as simple as Jericho bursting out of a box. Reports have suggested that Jericho’s contract with AEW may well have been frozen, meaning he is still under a deal with Tony Khan’s company.
