Chris Jericho has opened up on how Jake Hager once stepped in to a situation whilst they both worked for WWE which could well have saved his life.

The latest episode of Talk is Jericho included the Jericho Appreciation Society, and during the show he discussed an overseas tour where he ended up in a sticky situation.

‘The Demo-God’ explained how they were on a three-show tour of Abu Dhabi, and whilst attendances for the events weren’t particularly high the wealth of the members of the audience was, and they had therefore paid a lot of money to be there.

When heading to a club during some down-time on the trip, Jericho and Hager ended up getting involved in a situation with another patron who being unruly, yelling and screaming, and Hager added that he was “getting a little touchy, grabbing people.” At this point, Jericho gave him a hip check to try and get the situation to simmer down.

When leaving the club later on, the man was waiting for him alongside a number of his friends he had rounded up. At this point, the enraged man claimed he had put a bounty on the head of Chris Jericho.

He goes ‘My dad owns 27% of this company. And I’m putting a bounty on your head. In the next 24 hours, you are going to be killed and I’m gonna pay them $7 million.’

It was at this point Jake Hager stepped in, and former AEW World Champion Jericho claims that it could have saved his life.

I remember Jake going, ‘Don’t do it man. This is the wild west. They will kill you here. They’ll f*cking string you up, they’ll hang you.’ The only reason I didn’t take a wild swing with my stupid key was because Jake told me not to … If had not told me not to fight this guy, I would have [fought] him, and who knows what would have happened, so therefore, in pro wrestling logic, Jake Hager saved my life!

The Jericho Appreciation Society was recently successful in the Anarchy In The Arena match at AEW Double Or Nothing 2022, picking up the victory over The Blackpool Combat Club.
