Reason For Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch Real-Life Fallout Finally Revealed
Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch opened up about how they went from being best friends to rivals.
For more than a decade, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch have built incredible legacies in WWE that will see both women enter the Hall of Fame down the road.
Not only are Flair and Lynch two of the best women’s wrestlers of this era, but they are among the best in WWE history.
When Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch joined the WWE main roster in July 2015, they were the best of friends and travel partners. As the years went on, though, their relationship became strained.
During their memorable 2018 feud, Lynch was supposed to be the heel, and Flair was supposed to be the babyface, but the fans didn’t see it that way, and they turned Lynch into the face.
In a recent episode of WWE Rivals on A&E, Flair and Lynch discussed their history. During that rivalry in 2018, Lynch shared a pic on social media of Flair’s breast enhancement surgery as a way to mock her. Flair addressed it in the documentary.
Flair: “When she used my breasts in the tweet—I’ve had body image issues my whole life, and if anyone knows how hard I’ve worked, it was her. I felt used as a friend.”
As for Lynch, she admitted she sometimes went too far when it comes to trash-talking on social media.
Lynch: “I admittedly went too far on social media, but I was trying to make it as real as possible and wanted the crowd to care. But sometimes I can go a bit too far—people can get upset with me.”
When the two women had a verbal exchange on television, Lynch called Flair a “plastic-faced dope” among other things, and that didn’t sit well with Flair either.
Flair: “‘You plastic-faced dope.’ I didn’t know she was going to say that. So she made calling me plastic—and the fans body-shaming me—cool.” (H/T Ringsidenews)
Charlotte Flair Wants To Renew Rivalry With Becky Lynch
Since Becky Lynch is the Women’s Intercontinental Champion on the Raw brand and Charlotte Flair is going after the Women’s Tag Team Titles with Alexa Bliss on SmackDown, the two former rivals don’t cross paths very often.
When talking about the A&E documentary recently, Charlotte Falir spoke about her history with Lynch and why she feels like the story is only just beginning.
“It’s incredible that Becky and I have this platform to talk about the incredible rivalry that we had due to the pivotal moment in the business for women, for us, and what we mean to each other’s careers.”
“There wouldn’t be ‘The Man’ without ‘The Queen,’ and there wouldn’t be ‘The Queen’ without ‘The Man.’ I don’t think it’s over. I think this is just the beginning. If they’re a new fan, they’re just getting a taste of what Becky versus Charlotte looked like. But to me, it’s like, no, I want to see what’s next.”
Perhaps if Flair and Lynch are on the same brand again, the rivalry can be renewed, but for now, the two women are worlds apart.
