Brock Lesnar’s WWE Future Likely To Have A Massive Twist
Brock Lesnar may not be done with WWE just yet.
Brock Lesnar wrestled Oba Femi in a titanic clash at WrestleMania 42. The build to the match saw Femi, the rising star who has recently been moved up to the main roster from NXT, get the upper hand on the Beast Incarnate on a couple of occasions.
The match itself was relatively short, with Femi asserting his dominance and both men executing their powerful signature moves on each other. After an F-5 from Lesnar didn’t put Femi down, he came back with a choke slam and a Fall From Grace on Lesnar to seal a historic win.
However, it was after the match took place that things took a different turn. Lesnar proceeded to take off his gloves and boots and leave them in the ring, signaling retirement. The commentary team later acknowledged this, and reports came out that Lesnar had suddenly retired.
However, new reports are emerging that he may not be done just yet. Two reports from WrestleVotes Radio and Wrestling Observer Radio have now come out, suggesting that Lesnar may return later in the year for one more match before bidding WWE goodbye for good.
Brock Lesnar Could Return At SummerSlam, Say Reports
During WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, Lesnar’s retirement was discussed in detail. It suggested that although Lesnar’s farewell gesture at WrestleMania 42 may have looked final, there is a chance that he may return at SummerSlam, which is to be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where Lesnar went to University and has been billed as his hometown his entire career.
There is a strong belief within WWE that Brock Lesnar was genuinely saying goodbye when he left his boots and gloves in the ring this past Sunday at WrestleMania.
With those we spoke to believing Lesnar is ready to call it a career. However, many also feel that before it’s all said and done, he will have one final match at this year’s SummerSlam. Lesnar, who attended the University of Minnesota and has been billed from Minneapolis, Minnesota throughout his entire WWE career, has only wrestled two televised matches in the state, with the last taking place in January of 2004.
One contact told us the company is more than hopeful he will be on the card come August 1st and 2nd at U.S. Bank Stadium downtown Minneapolis.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, there was a discussion that WWE could be planning to turn Brock Lesnar babyface with the help of this recent farewell gesture and get him back to what is sure to be a tremendous pop at SummerSlam for a match.
“Are they trying to turn Brock Lesnar into a baby face?”
“Yes, obviously. Yes.”
Although Brock Lesnar’s retirement was confirmed, the possibility of one more match lingered.
He is retiring… there’s going to be… maybe one more match.
