Hall Of Famer Picks Oba Femi To Headline WrestleMania 43 Over Other Rising WWE Stars
Oba Femi has been more than impressive since he made his main roster debut, and this WWE legend is choosing him as a possible headliner at next year’s WrestleMania.
Oba Femi was moved up to the main roster from NXT and made his debut at the Royal Rumble PLE. For the brief period that he was in the match, he came face-to-face with Brock Lesnar.
Fans started pushing for a match between the two men and got their wishes granted a few weeks later when Lesnar issued an open challenge for WrestleMania 42, and Femi answered it immediately.
The build to the match was successful in creating hype and showcasing Femi as someone who could be a legitimate threat. Their match was the first on WrestleMania 42 night 2, and Femi won the relatively short contest after an impressive showing.
Lesnar took off his gloves and boots and left them in the ring, signalling retirement after the match. On his way out, he had successfully put Femi over as the Next Big Thing, something Lesnar himself was billed as when he first came into WWE.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross recently picked Femi as the headliner for WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia next year. Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, the Voice of Wrestling gave reasons as to why his choice is Femi over other top stars currently working.
Jim Ross Thinks Oba Femi Will Become World Champion Before Bron Breakker Or Logan Paul
When asked to choose between Logan Paul, Bron Breakker, and Oba Femi, JR chose the latter as the one who could become World Champion and headline WrestleMania 43. He thinks Femi is in an impressive position and, if done right, could well be on his way to the top.
He’s (Oba Femi) got a better shot at it than anybody you and I can probably name right now, because he beat the monster. And he’s unique. His look is unique. He’s very impressive in that regard. Oba Femi being the champion at next year’s WrestleMania is going to be dependent upon how fast the company can build total confidence in his ability.
He’s got to stay reliable. He’s got to work on his game. He ain’t ready. But you got to run with a guy if you’re making that kind of commitment. And the first commitment they’ve made with him is him beating Brock Lesnar. It’s very possible. I can’t name you anyone currently on the roster that has an extremely better chance of being the champion at WrestleMania next year than Oba right now. He’d be my slight favorite in the horse race.
Ross named Paul the best in-ring worker among the three and Breakker (Rick Steiner’s son) the most legitimate athlete. But concluded by saying that his pick remains Oba Femi.
The best worker of the group is the Paul kid. He’s the best talent, bell to bell. Putting a match together. He’s still going to be perceived as somewhat one-dimensional, because the son of a b*tch looks like a Greek god and people draw their assumptions on his physique rather than his fundamental soundness.
Breakker is a, I love his game because he’s a legitimate tough athlete that has the pro wrestling DNA flowing through his veins. If I had to make a pick, Oba is going to be one, and maybe Breakker will be one A. But you damn sure don’t want to pass over on Steiner’s kid.
Breakker and Femi made their way to the main roster through NXT, while Paul is an internet celebrity and YouTube sensation who dabbled with WWE for a bit before becoming a full-time wrestler.
