Oba Femi defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42, after which The Beast hung up his boots.

Femi squashed The Beast, and Lesnar left his boots in the middle of the ring. However, this wasn’t something fans were expecting at all.

It so happens that there was a chance that Brock Lesnar would face Gunther in his retirement match at SummerSlam, but something changed along the way.

Brock Lesnar may have retired to avoid SummerSlam defeat

On The Coach and Bro, Jonathan Coachman spoke about Brock Lesnar’s retirement from WWE. He claimed that The Beast did not want to retire in front of his home crowd at SummerSlam, that too with Gunther ending his career. Ideally, the better option was WrestleMania.

Brock’s super smart, and Brock has never done something that Brock doesn’t want to do. And when all the storylines are out there, Vince, that Gunther is going to be the one to end his career in Minnesota at SummerSlam in August, Vince, we saw what happened with Cena, and they got nothing out of it. So, if you’re Brock and you look at what happened to Cena, and he was unable to walk out with his hands raised, then if you’re going to do that, wouldn’t you rather do it at the place that you became famous by beating The Undertaker as opposed to Gunther, a wrestler that they barely are invested in anymore, in front of your home crowd and your home fans? I think he thought about that, and he called that audible at some point in the last 24 hours.
