WWE WrestleMania 42 Night Two was off to a shocker as Brock Lesnar faced off against Oba Femi in the opening match of the night. The two powerhouses went toe-to-toe with each other in a short yet entertaining match.

Ultimately, it was Oba Femi who came out on top as he squashed Brock Lesnar with relative ease. He picked up the win over the Beast Incarnate after hitting him with a Chokeslam and following that up with a Fall from Grace.

Lesnar seemed to be in disbelief after losing to Oba in such a short time and remained in the ring following the match. Immediately after sitting up, he started taking his gloves off in the ring.

He then kept his gloves on the mat before removing his shoes inside the ring. His long-time advocate, Paul Heyman, then came out and the two embraced before heading back with Brock’s boots and gloves remaining in the ring, hinting at his in-ring retirement.

It came as a massive surprise for everyone watching the show, as there were no signs or hints that this was a retirement match. While it looks like Lesnar has hung up his wrestling boots, there are some signs that make it feel like this might be a work.

1) No official announcement during WWE WrestleMania 42

Brock Lesnar kicked off all the action on WrestleMania 42 Night Two as he wrestled Oba Femi in the opening match of the night. He indicated at his retirement right after the match ended, but no official announcement regarding it was made throughout the show. All through the show, whenever Lesnar’s apparent retirement was mentioned, it was said that it looks like Brock has retired, casting a bit of doubt over the whole segment.

2) No update on Brock Lesnar’s retirement on the post-show press conference

Throughout the second night of WrestleMania 42, it was stated that an update would be provided on Lesnar’s retirement during the post-show press conference. However, when the press conference came about, they didn’t offer an update on Brock’s future; instead used the phrase “future uncertain” whenever Lesnar’s in-ring retirement was mentioned.

3) Lack of Hints or Indications from Brock Lesnar

When John Cena retired last year at Saturday Night’s Main Event last year, he was treated to a full-blown retirement tour before he called it quits. When AJ Styles retired from the promotion, it was clear to all that he had put his career on the line against Gunther. However, no prior announcement was made for Brock’s apparent retirement, and nothing was even hinted at before the match. Even after leaving his boots in the ring, Lesnar didn’t utter a word and just walked away from the arena, raising suspicions over his WWE status.

4) The Gunther-Paul Heyman Angle

Fans have been clamouring to see Gunther take on Brock Lesnar in a huge blockbuster match, but haven’t gotten the opportunity to witness that yet. Recently on WWE RAW, Gunther told Heyman that he owes him a favor after he saved the Oracle from a Seth Rollins’ beatdown. It is being speculated that Gunther might use his favor to bring Lesnar back via Paul Heyman so that he can have a proper retirement match against the Career Killer.

Why Brock Lesnar might’ve actually retired from WWE?

All these points make it seem like we haven’t yet seen the last of Brock Lesnar just yet, and that we may find out more about his retirement during Monday Night RAW tomorrow. However, this is all merely speculation, and it just could be that Lesnar has actually retired from the promotion.

It’s being reported that Paul Heyman was one of the producers of his match tonight, and this could be something that the two of them would’ve discussed before tonight. Lesnar is known for pulling unscripted moments on the fly, and it could so happen that the retirement is completely legit and they kept it under wraps for so long to get the appropriate reaction from the crowd.
