Major Backstage Secret Revealed About Liv Morgan-Lana WWE Romance

Lana and Liv Morgan were involved in a romantic storyline in WWE.

In late 2019 and early 2020, WWE ran a controversial storyline where Liv Morgan and Lana (who are real-life best friends) were portrayed as former lovers.

On December 30, 2019, episode of Raw, Morgan made a return to TV during Lana and Bobby Lashley’s wedding ceremony and professed her love for Lana, revealing their past relationship.

The angle quickly transitioned into a feud, with Morgan aligning with Lana’s then-real-life husband, Rusev. The storyline was eventually dropped without a clear resolution, and both performers moved on to other angles.

WWE Initially Wanted Sonya Deville To Be Lana’s Romantic Interest, Not Liv Morgan

WWE legend Lana recently joined the Ring The Belle podcast for an interview, where she revealed a massive secret about her storyline romance with Liv Morgan.

She disclosed that WWE had initially planned to make Sonya Deville her romantic interest. Ruby Riott was also considered for the role. But WWE eventually went with Morgan.

“I didn’t know who it was going to be. They said it could be Daria [Sonya Deville], or it could be Ruby [Riott], or it could be Liv [Morgan]. I was like, ‘All of that is awesome.’ I think they chose not to go with Daria because Daria was on SmackDown in the Mandy Rose story that they were starting with Otis… They originally were thinking of using Daria first,” Perry said.

Liv Morgan is currently involved in a storyline with The Judgment Day, where Dominik Mysterio is her on-screen boyfriend. Lana is planning to make her return to the world of pro wrestling after a two-year break. 

Also, Sonya Deville recently made her return to the pro wrestling world on January 15, 2026, on Thursday Night Impact!’s AMC debut, where she was introduced as the Director of Operations.
