Austin Theory Debunks Major Rumor About Masked Man WWE Angle
Austin Theory shares details about his masked man WWE angle.
The masked man storyline began at Survivor Series WarGames in November 2025, when a mystery figure entered the steel cage during the Men’s WarGames match and attacked CM Punk with a curb stomp. This allowed Bron Breakker to pin Punk, securing a massive victory for The Vision.
On the December 15 episode of Monday Night Raw, during a main-event match between Rey Mysterio and Logan Paul, the masked man appeared and attacked Mysterio. Following the match, the mystery figure retreated into the crowd and removed his gear, revealing himself to be Austin Theory.
From his debut to the unveiling, the masked man made a few appearances on these shows. Every time he made an appearance, fans guessed a different WWE star behind the mask. Some said it was Montez Ford. Others said it was Grayson Waller or Ricky Starks.
Austin Theory Confirms He Was Behind WWE’s Masked Man All Along
Speaking in a recent interview with Adrian Hernandez on Unlikely, Theory debunked all the rumors and clarified that every time the masked man made an appearance on the show, it was him behind the mask. Austin Theory elaborated on how WWE took measures to make sure no one knew that it was him under the black hoodie and mask.
Yes—every time it was me. It wasn’t all these other guys you think it was. Montez Ford or—yo, they were zooming in—It was great. It was my a**. Everybody was like, ‘Oh, that’s got to be Austin Theory.’ I’m like, ‘Okay, alright.’”
“Man, I’d say there were—if I remember correctly—maybe three or four times leading up to the build of taking the mask off. We were still unsure when the mask was going to come off, but my travel was crazy. I was flying into the opposite city, staying at the hotel, then I’d have a chauffeur pick me up and take me to the arena.”
So right when I get close to the building, I put my black hoodie on, I put my shiesty on, I put my hood up—and the guy driving is just looking in the rearview like, ‘Am I about to get robbed? What’s happening?’ And then even at TV, man—I would sneak in the back. I’d pass certain talent—guys I’m close with—and we’d kind of make eye contact, but I wouldn’t say anything. Nobody really knew.”
“And the reason it wasn’t so clear that it was me is because—shoot—even in the back, no one knew. There was a very small percentage of people that knew. And especially when it came time to do the segment, the makeup lady would come put eyeliner on me—it was just a black T-shirt tucked in and a zip-up black hoodie. I’m a jacked dude, you know what I mean?”
After some time, another masked man showed up, and it turned out to be Seth Rollins, who is set to face Gunther at WrestleMania 42. Meanwhile, Austin Theory is going to team up with Logan Paul and IShowSpeed against Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, and LA Knight.
