AJ Styles Finally Shares Secret He Kept From WWE Locker Room
AJ Styles has finally confessed to a secret he has been withholding from WWE for several years.
The Phenomenal One joined the Stamford-based company in 2016. After a decade-long run, the former WWE Champion ended his career last month following his loss to Gunther at the Royal Rumble premium live event.
WWE recently released an AJ Styles farewell tour Vlog, documenting The Phenomenal One’s road to his retirement match against The Ring General. The 48-year-old spoke about being one of the oldest stars in the locker room and seeing other younger ones grow, mentioning Liv Morgan as an example.
These guys I’ve spent 10 years with. They’re guys and girls that I’ve seen grow as performers. Like, I think about like Liv and the first time I met her and how young she was, dude. Like, it’s, there’s a reason why they call me Uncle Al, right? Like, I’m the older guy that is very protective of a lot of people here. You know, just, I wanna make sure that everybody’s taken care of and everybody’s stood up for and just seeing how much they’ve grown. And so, I’m so excited for them. As Nattie Had said in her book, you gotta beat the house. You’re gambling on yourself, and you hope to beat the house. But if you stay at the table too long, you will lose.
AJ Styles Enjoys Being Called Uncle Al By WWE Star
While talking to the camera, AJ Styles was interrupted by Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton. The two joked with “Uncle Allan” before leaving. The Phenomenal One then turned to the camera to reveal a secret.
The now-retired legend admitted that he enjoys being called Uncle Al by his younger colleagues.
Secretly, I really enjoy that they call me Uncle Al. Because what they’re saying is like, I’m not old enough to be their dad. I’m the cool uncle because I’m older. That’s kinda cool. [9:02 onwards]
