AJ Styles Confirms Real-Life Backstage Heat With Top WWE Star
AJ Styles has revealed a huge surprise about his real-life relationship with one of WWE’s biggest superstars.
The Phenomenal One and CM Punk have a long history. The two shared the ring several times throughout their careers in multiple promotions, including TNA, ROH, and WWE.
Ahead of Styles’ retirement last month, the 48-year-old challenged CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship on the January 26 episode of RAW. The Second City Saint emerged victorious after an epic battle with his long-time rival.
AJ Styles Gets Candid About His Relationship With CM Punk
WWE recently dropped an AJ Styles farewell tour Vlog, documenting The Phenomenal One’s road to retirement. The former WWE Champion spoke to the camera after his match against CM Punk, expressing his gratitude to share the ring one final time with The Second City Saint.
Meanwhile, Styles admitted that the two once had real-life heat following a miscommunication despite being very close at some point in their lives. The 48-year-old confessed that his fallout with Punk bothered him.
I don’t think he understands how much it means to me because we had some rough times, him and I. It really bothered me because we were so close at one point. Then, you got caught up in your bubbles and stuff like that, miscommunication. It sucks.
We are living proof that live and learn, forget, forgive, move on, life’s too short to be angry with each other over stupid things. Me and Punk don’t think a lot of the same things but that doesn’t separate us from being friends and being appreciative of each other. It’s so stupid to live like that, I wish everybody could understand that.
We’re going to have differences, we’re not going to agree on everything but we can agree to be civil. We both said things in the past that we wish we could take back. With that being said, I’m so thankful for that match tonight. Canada of all places was amazing. [H/T: Fightful]
