An AEW star’s contract is up very soon.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, Matt Hardy’s AEW contract expires in March. Hardy, whose first televised match took place all the way back in 1994 signed with the company in March 2020.

There have been talks between Hardy and the company, although there is no word on whether a new contract has been agreed. Interestingly, Jeff Hardy’s original AEW deal lined up with Matt’s, but time has been added to due to injury and inactivity.

Matt Hardy has only wrestled once in 2024, teaming with Jeff and Mark Briscoe to defeat Kip Sabian and The Butcher & The Blade on the January 5th episode of Rampage.

Jeff Hardy is currently out of action after suffering an injury during a match with Sammy Guevara. It’s since been reported that the company has suspended Sammy Guevara for his actions during the match.

Kazuchika Okada Expected To Sign AEW Deal

While Matt Hardy’s future appears uncertain, it’s been reported that Kazuchika Okada’s full AEW debut could be imminent. According to the most recent report on the star, Okada is in the United States with sources in Japan tipping him to appear on the March 6th episode of Dynamite.

Okada has been a free agent since letting his New Japan Pro-Wrestling contract expire. Although the star has appeared in AEW previously, he did so while under contract with NJPW.

Meanwhile, Mercedes Mone is expected to make her own debut on March 13th.
