AEW Star Claims Match Was Scrapped Seconds Before Entrance

An AEW wrestler has revealed that a recent match advertised for television was canceled just as he was ready to have the match.

Konosuke Takeshita has earned a reputation as one of the best in-ring performers in AEW while having great matches with top stars like Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, Claudio Castagnoli, and numerous others.

While Takeshita is terrific in the ring, the Don Callis Family member isn’t featured on television that much.

During a discussion with DDT Pro Wrestling, Takeshita spoke about how he was supposed to have a match on the May 1st edition of Rampage, which followed AEW Dynamite that night. Takeshita was advertised for a match with London Lightning, but it never took place. Takeshita revealed in the interview that he only found out the match was being cut when he was standing by backstage ready to have the match.

“It’s been a few weeks since I got to be on air and due to (the nature of) the live broadcast my match was cut. I was already waiting at the entrance gate with my gown on when I was told so.

“I carried all those frustrating emotions of that moment into that one match in Budokan. There was that feeling that I didn’t want to lose to them either.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Takeshita expressed his frustration with wrestling for AEW and adapting to wrestling in America.
