Ex-AEW Star Returning To Former Company

A former AEW wrestler is going back to a company where he had a lot of success earlier in his career.

When All Elite Wrestling launched as a company in January 2019, one of the immediate strengths that stood out to fans watching at home was their tag team division.

One of those great tag teams that became AEW regulars in that first year was Santana & Ortiz. They are a tag team that joined Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle group on the first-ever edition of Dynamite in October 2019.

During their run as a tag team in AEW, Santana & Ortiz were part of some big matches with the Inner Circle, but they never became AEW Tag Team Champions.

Earlier in March, AEW’s Mike Santana left the company after nearly five years there. Santana suffered a major knee injury in the summer of 2022 that cost him a year of his career and he was never a major factor after that.

As for what’s next in his career, Fightful Select reports that Santana is going back to TNA Wrestling, which is a company he used to work for. It doesn’t mean that he has signed a TNA contract since the company is willing to use people on per appearance deals.

Santana has been working independent wrestling shows since late 2023 and is the reigning House of Glory (HOG) Champion.

What Did Former AEW Star Santana Accomplish In TNA?

Prior to working for AEW, Santana & Ortiz were regulars in TNA Wrestling (then known as Impact Wrestling) from early 2017 until they went to AEW in 2019.

During their TNA run, Santana & Ortiz were four-time Tag Team Champions and held the titles for a combined 662 days, which is a company record.

Santana’s return to TNA will likely be as a solo wrestler, so it will be interesting to see if he can have the same success he had as a tag team wrestler.
