Another AEW Original Leaves The Company

Tony Khan AEW

One more AEW original is now officially no longer with the company after they were removed from the company’s roster page.

Mike Santana suffered a serious knee injury in the Blood & Guts match in 2022 leading him to miss over a year away from the ring. But before that taking him away from the ring the writing seemed to be on the wall for his long-time partnership with Ortiz as the two had fallen out in a major way.

Santana returned to action as part of the Stadium Stampede at 2023’s All In alongside Ortiz and the Blackpool Combat Club but that was the last time they found themselves on the same side. Mike Santana has since had two more matches in AEW, his last one coming in October 2023 when he defeated his former partner in a No Disqualification match.

Mike Santana Gone From AEW

Fightful Select has now confirmed that after he was removed from AEW’s roster page on the company’s website, Santana is no longer part of the company. The report noted that Santana had not been backstage at shows in months and his departure was confirmed by sources close to the star.

Santana has remained active on the independent scene in recent months and defeated AEW’s Penta El Zero Miedo to retain his HOG Heavyweight Title on the 2nd of March.

During his time in Tony Khan’s company, Santana failed to win any gold with only he and Ortiz receiving a single AEW Tag Team Title match during their time together there.
