Officially Disabled: AEW Star Makes Heartbreaking Announcement

Britt Baker Jamie Hayter Rebel AEW

An AEW star has revealed that they are officially disabled.

Rebel, who has been battling cancer, shared the update in a recent Instagram post, while hoping to get enrolled in a better rehabilitation program.

In November 2025, she announced that she had been diagnosed with primary pulmonary lymphoma. Earlier, she was misdiagnosed when the doctors told her that she had cryptococcal pneumonia and was kept on anti-fungal medication.

The later diagnosis showed that she had cancer all along.

In May of 2024 I was hospitalized for what I thought was Cryptococcal pneumonia… I went a year on anti-fungals, but I was not getting better. After a year… I went to the Mayo Clinic. They found that it was not Cryptococcal pneumonia this whole time, and that it is primary pulmonary lymphoma, which is cancer in the lungs.

Along the way, Rebel also picked up Functional Neurological Disorder, which affected her mobility and motor skills.

In her devastating social media post, the 47-year-old can be seen holding a disabled parking permit.

Rebel is known in AEW for her gimmick as Dr. Britt Baker’s personal assistant.

Britt Baker’s AEW Status Amid Continued Absence

Britt Baker’s last AEW appearance was in November 2024.

While Tony Khan has maintained that the former Women’s World Champion is still on the company’s roster, her return is nowhere in sight.

During a recent Fightful Select Q&A session, Sean Ross Sapp claimed that the promotion’s creative team had no storylines for her despite her being cleared to wrestle.

At this point, I don’t think that we’re going to see her back. Her deal goes well into 2026, but it’s been over a year. And at least the last time I spoke with her, she indicated that she was healthy—and that’s been like ages and ages ago.

I’ve heard no discussions regarding her in a long time outside of when we ask on media calls. I just… I don’t think it’s going to happen.

There have been reports that AEW’s rival promotion WWE has been interested in signing the 34-year-old.
