AEW Star Suffered Injury During Recent Dynamite Match
An AEW wrestler suffered an injury during a recent big match on Dynamite, but the good news is that it’s not considered to be that serious.
The main event of this week’s July 5th edition of AEW Dynamite saw The Elite’s Kenny Omega face off against Wheeler Yuta of the Blackpool Combat Club.
Going into the match, the AEW announcers pushed the story that Yuta beat Omega in the Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing. That’s true, but they didn’t seem to want to mention that Yuta only won because of a cheap attack by Konosuke Takeshita helping the BCC get the victory.
During the Dynamite match, there were a few times in the match where it looked like Yuta could win. There were definitely a few believable nearfalls in the match even though the viewers at home likely assumed that a top star like Omega would beat a midcarder like Yuta.
In a match that went nearly 20 minutes, Omega beat Yuta with the One Winged Angel. After the match, the BCC guys attacked Omega, so The Elite made the save and then the Dark Order prevented “Hangman” Adam Page from doing a further attack as AEW Dynamite ended there.
It has been reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer that Wheeler Yuta suffered a hamstring injury in the match.
“Wheeler Yuta suffered a hamstring injury in the match with Omega on 7/5. Right now the belief is that it’s not a full tear and that he will be able to return on 7/19 for Blood & Guts in Boston.”
That Blood & Guts match on July 19 will see The Elite’s Kenny Omega, Adam Page and The Young Bucks – Matt & Nick Jackson team up with a partner (likely Kota Ibushi) against The Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta and their friend Konosuke Takeshita. They will need a fifth partner because Bryan Danielson is out with a broken arm.
