AEW Dynamite Sees Samoa Joe Respond After Major Title Loss

Samoa Joe smirking AEW

A huge title change took place in AEW last week as the World Trios Championships unexpectedly changed hands. The Opps held the titles for 276 days, making them the longest reigning holders of the belt.

Hangman Adam Page promised last week on Dynamite that he wished to take everything Samoa Joe holds dear, away from him, and he managed to do that at Collision Maximum Carnage.

Page teamed up with JetSpeed to challenge the Opps for the World Trios Championship on Collision, and the group emerged victorious, making them the new champions.

Samoa Joe earns a hard-fought win on AEW Dynamite

Within a space of a few weeks, Joe went from holding two World Championships in AEW to holding none. He seemed to take out all those frustrations on Speedball Mike Bailey as he faced him in the ring tonight.

Joe dominated almost the entire match against Speedball and ragdolled him around the ring. Mike Bailey made a comeback late into the match and hit him with a Shooting Star Press from the top rope, but Joe kicked out at the last minute.

Speedball looked to capitalize on the momentum and looked to get a kneedrop on Joe on the ring apron, but missed. Katsuyori Shibata, who was present on the ringside, hit him with a series of suplexes and a knee breaker to weaken the champion.

Joe focused on Mike Bailey’s knee following that and caught him in multiple submission holds targeting his left knee. Speedball looked to pull off a huge upset and went to the top rope, but was caught by Shibata as Hook distracted the referee. Joe took advantage and hit him with a muscle buster to earn the win.
