Adam Page Warned Over Working Stiff

'Hangman' Adam Page

It has been revealed that a WWE Hall Of Famer went as far as to warn Adam Page to lighten up in the ring.

When CM Punk made his return to AEW programming on the 17th August 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite, the expectation was for him to address Interim World Champion Jon Moxley regarding a title unification match. Instead, he took things in a different direction.

Instead seemingly went off-script, calling out ‘Hangman’ Adam Page despite knowing that he wasn’t even in the building that night. This was seemingly a response to something Page had said in a promo in the build-up to their title match at Double Or Nothing, which had caused legitimate heat between the pair.

After winning the World Championship from Jon Moxley at All Out, CM Punk went on another tirade, which included the likes of Colt Cabana, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and once again Adam Page.

After calling him “an empty-headed f*cking dumb f*ck”, there was a report following the show that Page may have been spoken to about not working loose enough in the ring and that the issues may be related. According to the latest update from Fightful Select, this isn’t the case.

The report notes that Arn Anderson did indeed speak to Adam Page in 2021 about working a little less stiff during his matches, but that the incident is not related to Punk’s comments or an incident where two wrestlers were injured.

It is also noted in the report that CM Punk and Adam Page got along well up until their feud over the AEW World Championship started in the Spring.

There are also reports that CM Punk has little support backstage in AEW after his actions following All Out, and that some long-standing members of the roster see no way that he can now stay with the company.
