Adam Copeland Hints At First-Time Ever Marquee AEW Match

Adam Copeland AEW

Adam Copeland has teased that a never-before-seen match could take place in AEW.

After 25 years in WWE, Adam Copeland signed with All Elite Wrestling in October 2023. For much of the first few months of his tenure with the company, The Rated-R Superstar feuded with his old friend, now bitter rival, Christian Cage. This eventually led to Copeland capturing the TNT Championship in a brutal ‘I Quit’ match on Dynamite in Toronto, Canada.

Although his main focus was on Cage for some time, Copeland has had multiple first-time matches since joining AEW, including against Minoru Suzuki, Penta El Zero Miedo, and most recently Kyle O’Reilly. Now, the star has hinted at a bout many fans will be clamouring to see.

Speaking on Close Up with Renee Paquette, Copeland explained that he was trying to shorten his name to ‘Cope’ instead of his full real name when he teased the possibility of facing Jon Moxley.

“I’m trying to, little by little, segue it to ‘Cope.’ Just Cope, you know? Because ‘The Rated R Superstar Adam Copeland’ is very wordy.

“I’m thinking, if I’m looking at a marquee, and I go ‘Oh, Cope vs. MOX.'”

Known as Dean Ambrose in WWE, Moxley made a name for himself in that company as part of The Shield. However, the star joined WWE long after Copeland had entered retirement due to a neck injury. By the time Copeland was cleared to compete again in 2020, Mox had already moved on to AEW.

Now, there is every possibility of the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion finally meeting Cope in the ring, and the Rated-R Superstar has proven he can match Moxley’s hardcore wrestling style.

Adam Copeland Issues Challenge For Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match

Having seen off challenges from Buddy Matthews and Brody King, Adam Copeland wants to end his feud with The House of Black by taking on Malakai Black himself inside a barbed wire steel cage. Cope made the challenge for Double or Nothing on the May 11th edition of Collision, telling Black to accept the terms if he’s “man enough.”
