Absent WWE Stars Waiting For Creative Direction

Some members of the WWE roster have been away from television for so long simply because the creative team has had nothing for them.

When a company like WWE employs hundreds of wrestlers across their three brands of Raw, SmackDown and NXT, it’s hard to find room for everybody all the time. Sometimes injuries take people out like what happened to Charlotte Flair recently. However, other times it’s simply because of a lack of creative direction.

One of the absent WWE stars is Dexter Lumis, who hasn’t wrestled a match since May 2023. It was reported by Fightful Select that Lumis hasn’t been on Raw or been at many recent tapings. There is no injury and he can compete again when WWE comes up with creative plans for him.

Lumis worked for WWE from 2019 to 2022 mainly on the NXT brand where he “married” Indi Hartwell in storyline. Lumis was fired by WWE in April 2022 and then re-hired by WWE in August 2022 soon after Paul “Triple H” Levesque took over as the Chief Content Officer. It was Triple H who booked him in NXT.

Odyssey Jones is another former NXT star who was pegged for a main event run that hasn’t taken off. Fightful reports that there was an idea pitched for Jones to join the Bobby Lashley group with The Street Profits, but it hasn’t been pushed on screen. Jones has wrestled at some live events recently as a tag team with Cameron Grimes against Austin Theory & Grayson Waller

Where Has WWE’s Largest Superstar Been?

Another man who has been away from WWE television is the largest man in the company, the 7’3″ and 400-pound Nigerian giant Omos.

According to Fightful, sources said that World Wrestling Entertainment feels like they can use Omos in an attraction role, but there haven’t been many creative pitches sent to him. Omos has had some recent live event matches that are usually kept pretty short and against the likes of Akira Tozawa.

At WrestleMania 39, Omos wrestled Brock Lesnar in an entertaining match that saw the future Hall of Famer Lesnar pick up the giant and give him an F5 to win impressively.
