5-Time WWE Champion Claims Triple H Wanted To Destroy Him
Triple H was recently blasted by a huge name in WWE history.
WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart has been openly critical of current Chief Content Officer Triple H. The Hitman has also never hidden his genuine dislike of The Game.
In a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, Hart recalled the one time he squared off with the 14-time world champion in Germany in February 1997.
The match ended in victory for The Game via disqualification. However, The Hitman recently revealed that it was not the original finish that was planned. Instead, the 68-year-old was supposed to get pinned by Triple H in the middle of the ring.
I wrestled him a couple of times. He was always trying to beat me. We did Monday Night Raw in Germany, and he was part of the booking now. He was in the booking committee with Vince and Jerry Brisco and all these guys. I get to Germany, which is one of my biggest markets ever. There was never a star in Germany like I was.
I get in the dressing room and Triple H is beating me; 1, 2, 3, in the middle of the ring. They kind of cornered me in the dressing room. Triple H is staring at me. [Brisco speaking], ‘This is what you’re doing. Triple H is gonna go over.’ I listened to them and I was like, ‘I want to talk to Vince. I’m not doing anything until I talk to Vince.’
Hart explained that after explaining to Vince McMahon that Triple H shouldn’t pin him a week before his bout against Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13, the former chairman changed the match’s finish. The Hitman added that Triple H was not thrilled by the decision, claiming that the current Chief Content Officer wanted to destroy him in Germany, calling him a “piece of sh*t.”
I never refused to lose to anybody, except for Shawn at Survivor Series. They put me in a room with Vince and I said, ‘Why would you beat me in Germany? It’s a country where I’m super over. Why would you beat me with a guy who is not over? Why would you beat me in the middle of the ring, and I’m wrestling Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13 a week from now? You’re going to beat me on Raw, pin me in the middle of the ring, and then you want me to wrestle Austin and do what?’
Vince looked like somebody hit him with a sledgehammer. He goes, ‘You’re right. We have to change it.’ He realized they can’t beat me before I wrestled Steve. You could see Triple H turn white. He didn’t get to beat me. He had already mapped it out in his head that he was going to pin me and destroy me in Germany because he had the clout, which tells you what kind of piece of sh*t he was. I foiled him, temporarily. He was out to get me [H/T: Fightful]
Bret Hart Never Wanted To Face Triple H In WWE
During his WWE career, Bret Hart shared the ring with Triple H only a few times. They last wrestled in October 1997 in a Triple Threat that included The Undertaker at a live event. The WWF World Heavyweight Title ended in The Hitman’s victory.
In his interview with Inside The Ropes, Hart revealed that he never wanted to wrestle The Game. He claimed the 14-time world champion never had a great match.
I never really rated him. There is not one match that I ever watched of Triple H with anybody that I ever thought was, ‘Ah, that’s a great match.’
I never wanted to wrestle him. I look at every wrestler and go, ‘I could do this with that guy and do this with that guy.’ With Triple H, it was always just a match. Nothing special ever came to my mind. [H/T: Fightful]
