AEW News: Jon Moxley Will Miss “All Out” Pay-Per-View Due to Injury, Kenny Omega vs. PAC Announced as New Match

There’s a change for one of the biggest matches at All Elite Wrestling’s All Out pay-per-view on Saturday, August 31. One of the most anticipated matches on that show was going to be Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega, which was set up by some physical altercations between the two men earlier in the year. However, Moxley revealed on Twitter this evening that he is going to miss All Out due to an infection in his arm. Here’s what Moxley wrote in four tweets:

“I’m absolutely gutted to have to deliver this news but I’d rather it come directly from me. In a nightmare scenario, a serious case of MRSA has returned in my elbow. The timing couldn’t be worse. In this circumstance I am forced to pull out of the fight 8/31 vs Omega at All Out. I apologize to all involved, most importantly the fans. I am incredibly frustrated and pissed off. I’ll have surgery this week to remove the bursa sac in my elbow and be done with it for good. Should be a quick recovery so I will be 100% for AEW Wednesday nights on TNT. Still, I expect All out to be an amazing ppv and hope all the fans out there looking for an alternative tune in. You will be blown away by AEW and be excited to be a wrestling fan. I’m looking forward to watching as a fan myself. This fucking sucks.”

The “serious case of MRSA” is a staph infection. It is something he has dealt with before stemming from the 2017 surgery on his triceps when he was in WWE. He had a really bad staph infection while recovering from that eight-month injury and it was so bad it nearly killed him. He got through it, though. Moxley has been wrestling a lot in the last couple of months, most notably in the NJPW G1 tournament.

I think a lot of us would agree with those last three words he, but the good news is that Moxley isn’t expected to be out of action for that long. Moxley is expected to be out of action for only about four weeks, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer. That means Moxley should be ready to go for AEW on TNT’s debut on October 2, which he said in that post.

As for Omega’s opponent at All Out, AEW got a very good replacement for Moxley because PAC (formerly Neville) will be the opponent. This will be the official AEW debut of PAC.

That’s going to be an awesome match.

TJR Thoughts: The injury to Moxley sucks, but sadly that’s part of pro wrestling. Those things happen and there’s not much you can do about it. The fact that he’ll only miss about one month action is encouraging. I know a lot of fans that got tickets to All Out likely did so for the Omega vs. Moxley match, but I have faith in AEW delivering a great show even without that match. I fully expect AEW to get back to the Moxley/Omega in October when they are on AEW on TNT and we will probably get that huge match between them before the end of the year.
