Cody Rhodes Makes Huge Stipulation For WWE Title Match

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes is incensed after falling victim to AJ Styles on SmackDown and now a huge WWE Championship match has been made for Clash at the Castle.

After losing to Cody Rhodes at Backlash France SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis told Styles if he wanted another shot at the title he’d have to start all over again leading Styles to consider if he had enough time left to do that.

During the 31st of May edition of SmackDown, an announcement by AJ Styles was teased and sure enough, he seemed to be saying goodbye to the WWE fans as he was joined by long-time allies Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.

Perhaps, the penny should have dropped when Styles invited Cody Rhodes to the ring and told the WWE Champion that while SmackDown will always be the house that AJ Styles built, he was now giving the keys to Rhodes. Rhodes raised Styles’ arm and posed with him in an emotional moment before Styles pounced, laying out The American Nightmare.

AJ Styles took things further when he delivered a nasty Styles Clash to Rhodes off the steel steps onto the arena floor while Anderson and Gallows kept the referees and Nick Aldis trying to stop the assault at bay.

Cody Rhodes Gives AJ Styles WWE Title Rematch

On SmackDown in Lousiville, Cody Rhodes called out Styles but security intervened before anything physical could take place between the two men. Styles made clear he wanted a WWE Title match at Clash at the Castle which Rhodes was more than happy to give him but told his challenger it would be an I Quit match. Nick Aldis approved, making the bout official for the Glasgow show on June 15th.

Cody Rhodes then took out security as he sought to get his hands on Styles but as he was being held back, AJ Styles nailed him with a cheap shot to get the upper hand.
