WWE News: The Bella Twins Announced as Inductees for 2020 WWE Hall of Fame

TJR Wrestling

It was announced on WWE Smackdown tonight in Phoenix that The Bella Twins duo (Nikki and Brie) will be inducted into the 2020 WWE Hall of Fame. The 2020 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 2, in Tampa, Florida, during WrestleMania 36 Week and it will be broadcast on WWE Network.

The Bellas are 36 years old, so that would make them two of the youngest people in WWE’s Hall of Fame. They are also both pregnant right now with Brie set to welcome her second child with Daniel Bryan (they have a daughter named Birdie as well) and Nikki is going to have her first child with fiance Artem Chigvintsev.

During their WWE careers, Nikki won the Divas Championship two times and Brie held it once. In addition to that, they also have had a lot of success as stars of the Total Divas and Total Bellas that WWE helps to produce for E Network.

Here’s a video that WWE produced for the Bella Twins induction.

The other official names for the 2020 WWE Hall of Fame are Batista and the NWO group consisting of Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Sean “Syxx” Waltman.

Other names expected to be announced for this year’s WWE Hall of Fame include John Bradshaw Layfield and the “British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith.

TJR Thoughts: Congrats to the Bella Twins. I think they both worked hard to improve throughout their careers, so I respect them for that. Nikki even broke her neck and came back from major surgery to keep wrestling. That’s very admirable and showed how tough she is. I think Nikki was clearly the better of the two women especially in the last four years of their careers. Nikki had better matches and was the better actress of the two. With that said, I thought their rivalry in 2014 was absolutely awful and was the winner of my Johnny Award for the Worst Feud of the Year. I think most fans would agree that the level of acting that took place during that rivalry was really bad. I’ll never forget that “I wish you died in the womb” line that was so lame.

They aren’t favorites of mine by any means, but WWE has pushed them so much in their careers especially after they got the reality shows that it’s easy to see why WWE wants to put them in their Hall of Fame. Could they have waited a bit until they got a bit older? Probably. There are women that have been retired for several years that are probably getting in at some point, yet the Bella Twins got in before them. It’s the WWE Hall of Fame, though. There’s no explanation or reason for the picks. There might somebody that has been retired for ten years in the HOF class one year and then the next year they might put recent retirees like the Bella Twins. Who knows? It’s just all the whim of Vince McMahon.

I don’t really complain too much about people going into the WWE Hall of Fame. They let a lot of people in and there are many questionable picks that go in years before deserving people ever get to go in. I know it means a lot to the performers to get in, so that’s why I’ll always say congratulations to them.
