WWE News: Knee Injury Will Sideline Tommaso Ciampa Until March 2018

TJR Wrestling

Tommaso Ciampa has been out of action since late May due to a knee injury. Ciampa recently underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL and the estimates given by WWE is that he’ll be out of action until March 2018 according to ProWrestlingSheet. That timeline makes sense since most torn ACL injuries take around 8-10 months to recover from, so as long as things go well that March 2018 date is a best case scenario for him.

Ciampa had a foot injury going into the NXT Takeover Chicago show on May 21 as he teamed with tag partner Johnny Gargano against the Authors of Pain in a Ladder Match for the AOP’s NXT Tag Team Titles. They got to main event that show with the Authors of Pain coming up victorious. After the match was over, Ciampa and Gargano were emotional about their inability to win back the tag team titles. When they got to the ramp, Ciampa turned on Gargano with a vicious attack.

At the time of the attack, fans hoped to see the former partners have a match perhaps at NXT Takeover in August. Nope. That’s not going to happen now. We will have to wait until next year to see Gargano get his revenge.

Ciampa’s last appearance on WWE NXT TV was on May 31 when he did a promo explaining why he turned heel on his tag team partner Johnny Gargano. It was a great promo.
