WWE’s WrestleMania Plans For AJ Lee After Becky Lynch Match

AJ LEE

What is WWE planning for AJ Lee after her match against Becky Lynch at Elimination Chamber?

On the February 9 edition of Monday Night Raw, The Geek Goddess returned from her hiatus to confront Becky Lynch and reminded her that she had beaten Lynch twice last year. Because of that, she technically deserved a shot at Becky’s Intercontinental Championship.

Lynch wanted to go one-on-one with AJ Lee at Elimination Chamber, but Lee put forward one condition: she would only accept the match if Lynch put the title on the line. Becky initially hesitated, but AJ eventually goaded her into agreeing to make it a championship match.

The WWE Universe was expecting the Becky Lynch vs. AJ Lee Intercontinental Championship match to take place at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. Several wrestling outlets also reported that the storyline between AJ Lee and Becky Lynch was expected to reach its climax on the grandest stage of them all.

However, since AJ is now set to face Becky Lynch at Elimination Chamber, many fans began to wonder whether WWE now has different plans for AJ for this year’s Mania. Well, that does not appear to be the case.

AJ Lee Will Have Another Match Against Becky Lynch At WrestleMania 42

On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that the storyline between Lynch and Lee is expected to continue at WrestleMania. Elimination Chamber is merely a pit stop in their rivalry, and WWE plans to stick with its original direction, which is AJ Lee facing Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42.

“I was expecting this match at Mania. But I was told, you know, there’s a reason it’s here, and the story goes until Mania. I was just basically told, I go like, ‘I thought this was going to be at Mania?’ I was told, ‘Don’t worry, it all plays out to get there.’”

This year’s Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event will take place on February 28 and will be held at the United Center in Chicago, the hometown of AJ Lee and her husband, CM Punk.
