Massive AJ Lee Match Reportedly “Locked In” For WWE WrestleMania

WWE has big plans for AJ Lee at WrestleMania 42.

AJ Lee returned to WWE in the summer of 2025, more than ten years after leaving the company.

After Lee’s husband, CM Punk, returned to WWE in November 2023 after nearly a decade away, he was asked many times about his wife’s potential return, and Punk would always say that it was up to her.

At Wrestlepalooza in September 2025, CM Punk and AJ Lee teamed up to defeat Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch (another married WWE couple) in an exciting match that showed that Lee hadn’t lost a step even after ten years away.

AJ Lee’s only other match since returning was at Survivor Series WarGames when she was on the winning babyface team with Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and Iyo Sky as they defeated Asuka, Kairi Sane, Nia Jax, Becky Lynch, and Lash Legend.

WWE Planning AJ Lee Singles Match At WrestleMania

Since returning to WWE for the Wrestlepalooza match, AJ Lee hasn’t had a singles match, but that’s about to change.

WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reports that the Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch vs. AJ Lee is planned for WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas on April 19 & 20.

According to the report, the Lynch/Lee match is considered to be one of the more “locked in” matches for WrestleMania. Lynch currently holds the Women’s Intercontinental Title, so it could be a championship match, but a lot could change over the next three months.

It was added that Lynch is on a part-time deal with WWE, which is why she is gone for months at a time.

The report did not mention if Lee was in the Women’s Royal Rumble on January 31st, but if Lynch is in it, then that’s obviously a way to continue their rivalry and lead into a WrestleMania match.
