WWE Reportedly Snubbed Major Star From WrestleMania For Gunther
Gunther is set to face Seth Rollins at this year’s WrestleMania 42.
On the March 30 episode of Monday Night Raw, Rollins made his return and attempted to take out Paul Heyman with a stomp. As he prepared for the move, Gunther made a surprise return and attacked him from behind. The Ring General trapped Rollins in a chokehold and put him to sleep on the announce table before pointing at the WrestleMania sign.
On the April 6 episode of Raw, Rollins opened the show to address the attack. However, Gunther once again snuck into the ring and attacked him from behind. The two stars engaged in a chaotic brawl, forcing security and WWE officials to rush out and separate them.
Later in the night, Gunther bumped into Paul Heyman, who thanked him for helping him the previous week. Gunther responded by saying that Heyman now owes him a very big favor.
Earlier this week, WWE officially announced the full WrestleMania 42 card and lineup. Gunther vs. Rollins will take place on Night One on April 18 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
However, this wasn’t the original plan heading into WrestleMania. Last year, Bron Breakker betrayed Rollins and kicked him out of The Vision, setting up a potential revenge match.
According to reports, Breakker vs. Rollins was the initial direction, but Breakker suffered a sports hernia in February and required surgery, ruling him out of WrestleMania 42.

Meanwhile, Gunther was rumored to face Rey Mysterio, but the WWE Hall of Famer was also sidelined with fractured ribs suffered before the Royal Rumble during a match against Austin Theory.
With both Breakker and Mysterio out of action, Gunther and Rollins were left without opponents. According to Cory of BodySlam.net, WWE ultimately pivoted and booked Gunther vs. Seth Rollins for WrestleMania 42 to ensure Gunther remained on the card.

Rey Mysterio returned to WWE on the April 6 episode of Monday Night Raw. He announced that he will compete at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. Mysterio has been added as the final entrant in the Intercontinental Championship ladder match, where Penta will defend his title.
Meanwhile, Bron Breakker has also been cleared for action but is not currently scheduled for another match at WrestleMania 42. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the decision to leave him off the card was a creative choice.
WWE officials reportedly did not want to rush his storyline with Seth Rollins without a proper build, and their match is expected to take place at a later date.
“The idea of Rollins vs. Breakker is very much alive, but they want the proper television build time. The entire storyline over the past few weeks with Rollins and Paul Heyman was always to build to Gunther choking Rollins out in Madison Square Garden, Meltzer reported.
