The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) is one of the most electrifying men in sports entertainment, and for good measure.
Almost three decades after his initial peak during WWE’s Attitude Era, The Rock is more popular than ever, especially owing to his work in Hollywood films and also his sporadic yet explosive appearances in WWE whenever they have happened.
The Rock is a member of the TKO Group’s (WWE’s owners) Board of Directors and is heavily rumoured to be a part of WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia next year for a big paycheck.
With the Rock’s popularity still at an all-time high and with WWE fans clamoring to see him one more time after he abruptly disappeared from WWE TV after becoming part of John Cena’s infamous heel turn at Elimination Chamber last year, TKO President Mark Shapiro has come out to speak about the Great One.
The Rock Praised By WWE’s Owners TKO
Speaking with Yahoo Finance, Shapiro opened up about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s impact on the company since joining the board in 2024. He made it clear that Rock has exceeded expectations internally.
He’s everything and more. I mean, he really is.
And also, he gets back to you like that. Not just because he’s on the board, that’s who he is. I’m not sure he sleeps.
Shapiro then praised Johnson’s entrepreneurship and business abilities
He’s an investor, he’s an entrepreneur, he’s an actor. He’s one of the biggest stars in the history of WWE. He’s an owner in the UFL.
He’s just a magnetic personality, and he’s kind of what you see is what you get.
The Rock’s ability to connect with fans was not lost on the TKO boss.
He truly cares about his audience in a very real, personal, and meaningful way.
It remains to be seen whether The Rock will return to WWE TV. He is currently working on a film with Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio. Time will tell if the People’s Champion will return to WWE in some capacity.
