WWE Stars Break Three-Year Streak At Elimination Chamber

The final match at WWE Elimination Chamber broke a nearly three-year streak that the company had as far as main events go.

When WWE does Elimination Chamber PLE events, there are some years where one of the Chamber matches in the main event spot. Other times, they go with a championship match or some other match on the card.

This year, since Elimination Chamber was in Perth, Australia, WWE decided to put the Women’s World Title match between champion Rhea Ripley and challenger Nia Jax in the main event. The reason for that is not just because it was a big match, but because Rhea was born and raised in Australia while Jax was also born in Australia, but raised in the United States.

An interesting stat regarding the Ripley-Jax match that main evented the show is that it was the first time a women’s match has headlined a WWE main roster Premium Live Event since WrestleMania 37 Night 1 in 2021. That WrestleMania 37 Night 1 2021 match saw Bianca Belair beat Sasha Banks in the main event.

As for the Ripley-Jax, the Australian hero Ripley got the big win by hitting the Riptide slam for the win.

On Twitter/X, Paul “Triple H” Levesque praised Ripley for being a main event superstar anywhere in the world and how this homecoming for Ripley put things on another level for her.

What a week it’s been for @RheaRipley_WWE. She’s a main event Superstar anywhere in the world…but this homecoming just turned things up a notch.

Congrats to your Women’s World Champion. Next stop: #WrestleMania XL.
