WWE Talent Reportedly Frustrated For Creative Reasons
WWE’s blue and red Brands have a difference in quality between them, and the wrestlers can see it now.
WWE’s Raw Brand airs on Netflix while its SmackDown Brand airs on the USA network which is a cable TV channel.
Although SmackDown is aired on Netflix in other parts of the world, domestically, it hasn’t left cable TV.
Raw is WWE’s flagship show, and SmackDown has long had to play the role of the sidekick show. Despite bursts of creativity and excitement in some episodes, notably the ones in Europe earlier this year, the blue brand has largely been shadowed by the red one.
WWE talent are reportedly beginning to see this difference in quality and are frustrated with it.
Self-Made Pro Panelists Discuss WWE Talents’ Frustrations With Creative
In a recent session, the Self-Made Pro crew discussed how WWE talent now know that there’s a clear difference in quality of creative in Raw and SmackDown and are noticing that SmackDown feels like a second-tier show.
They base their argument on Roman Reigns’ recent statement in which he put down the blue brand.
Isn’t it crazy? That Roman’s like, ‘I’m not walking on USA Network SmackDown, bro. I’m just not doing that show no more. We’re done with SmackDown’.
I spoke to some people in WWE about a lot of what’s been going on lately, and one of the things I heard was that there’s some creative frustration. A lot of talent are kind of annoyed about not really knowing what their creative is coming up.
What has been starting to circulate is the talent understanding the creative difference between RAW and SmackDown. That’s a thing now. There are people who know, like, ‘Oh, I’m on Fridays, alright. Well, we know what that means.’
