Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson suffered a major setback outside WWE recently.

The 53-year-old had been nominated for his performance as Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards in the ‘Best Performance By a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama’ category.

Johnson aggressively promoted the film at every public appearance since its release.

The award was ultimately won by Wagner Moura for his performance in The Secret Agent.

The former WWE Champion was seen as one of the top contenders to win the award, so the loss must have come as a setback. He later shared his thoughts via social media, informing that he had pre-planned something had the result landed in his favor.

After dinner and before dessert, I felt compelled to share a few words of my own – and show my family the note I was planning on pulling out of my pocket if my name was called, and I was standing on that stage. It was a note written from my 10-year-old daughter, Jazzy, given to me that morning of the Globes. ‘If you can dream, you can do it.’ It’s the little things in life – like this note from my kid, or having my family all together like this, that reminds me that I’ve already won.

WWE Superstars Show Support For The Rock

The Rock’s Instagram video caught the attention of many fans, including various WWE superstars who showed their support after the Golden Globes result.

The likes of B-Fab, Titus O’Neil, and Natalya commented under the post, revealing how proud they were. Meanwhile, Rey Mysterio, Bronson Reed, Pat McAfee, and Joe Hendry ‘liked’ the video post.

The Rock’s daughter, Ava’s partner and NXT star Tatyanna Dumas and WWE personality Sam Roberts, too, shared their thoughts.

The Rock’s last appearance in the Stamford promotion was at the 2025 Elimination Chamber, which witnessed the shock heel turn of John Cena.

Despite rumored future appearances, the storyline abruptly ended as wrestling fans continue to await his return.
