The SmackDown tag division has taken a bit of a blow.

During the 9/16 episode of WWE SmackDown, commentator, Michael Cole announced that one-half of the Viking Raiders, Erik, will be sidelined for an ‘indefinite period’ of time due to a foot injury.

Erik and Ivar last competed on WWE programming when they defeated Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of New Day back on the 8/26 edition of SmackDown.

The Viking Raiders signed with WWE in 2018 as Rowe and Hanson of the War Raiders and quickly became a fan-favorite staple of NXT programming. The pair would claim the NXT Tag Team Titles when they defeated the Undisputed Era’s Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly at NXT TakeOver: Phoenix in January 2019. Rowe and Hanson were called up to the WWE’s main roster April 2019 and subsequently repackaged as Erik and Ivar of the ‘Viking Experience’ before being quickly shifted to their current Viking Raiders moniker just weeks later.

Erik and Ivar are also one-time RAW Tag Team Champions as the pair defeated Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode to claim the titles during the October 14, 2019 episode of Monday Night RAW.
