Potential WWE SmackDown Spoiler Regarding Returning NXT Stars

A tag team from WWE NXT could be making a shocking return to the SmackDown brand.

Santos Escobar turned heel against Rey Mysterio and the LWO group after the Crown Jewel Premium Live Event in November. At Crown Jewel, Escobar left the brass knuckles on the apron so that Logan Paul could use the knuckles to hit Rey Mysterio, which led to Logan pinning Rey to become the US Champion.

On the SmackDown that followed on November 10th, Escobar did a cheap attack on Rey’s knee to take him out of action for a few months while Escobar has been fighting off LWO members since then.

It was reported later in November by Dave Meltzer that WWE was considering Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo to return to Smackdown as allies to Escobar. Garza and Carrillo are a heel tag team that have been in NXT for most of 2023 after spending several years on the WWE main roster.

In an update, PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that Garza & Carrillo are expected at tonight’s Friday Night Smackdown taping in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The report from Johnson noted that there were “pitches for the team to get involved with the Santos Escobar vs. LWO feud.”

It’s a double taping of SmackDown this week since WWE is doing the December 15th episode along with the December 22nd episode so that they can give their talent the week off in the days leading up to Christmas.

What Else Is Happening On The December 15th SmackDown?

Roman Reigns, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, will make his return to WWE TV for the first time since Crown Jewel when he appears on the December 15th episode of SmackDown. Since WWE is taping two episodes, Reigns could also appear on the December 22nd edition of SmackDown.

Meanwhile, the United States Championship Contender’s Tournament will continue in the quarterfinal round with Grayson Waller facing Carmelo Hayes and Kevin Owens in action against Austin Theory.
