WWE SmackDown Results – July 5th, 2024

Cody Rhodes entrance on WWE SmackDown

With just 24 hours until Money in the Bank, WWE SmackDown rolled into Toronto, Canada.

Money in the Bank has become one of WWE’s biggest Premium Live Events and a huge hit with fans since it was introduced in 2010. No matter what else is going on in WWE at that particular time, fans know the show guarantees drama and huge implications for the next several months.

On the eve of the 2024 edition, SmackDown landed in the Scotiabank Arena which is also the venue for the PLE.

The show began with a promo segment featuring all of the combatants in the men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Unsurprisingly, the verbal sparring turned physical, and a brawl broke out, with LA Knight and Jey Uso left standing tall.

Later on, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens addressed their upcoming battle with The Bloodline, but it was KO who stole the show. The star revealed his mother was rushed to hospital earlier in the week, and he’s been by her bedside watching her fight like hell since. However, he knows she’ll be angry if he misses MITB, so he’s going to leave it all in the ring and beat The Bloodline like never before.

In the main event, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa beat A-Town Down Under to claim the WWE Tag Team Titles. The match reached a thunderous conclusion with both Gargano and Ciampa locking in cross-faces on their rivals until Waller tapped out. The finish was a callback to DIY winning the NXT Tag Team Titles from The Revival in the same city back in 2016.
