Liv Morgan shares how she became the “Liv Morgan” in WWE.

Morgan started her wrestling journey in 2014 when she signed a contract with WWE and was assigned to the developmental territory NXT in October.

She made her first televised appearance at NXT TakeOver: Rival on February 11, 2015, where she was planted as a fan who jumped on Tyler Breeze during his entrance. She was seen again at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable on May 20 as part of Breeze’s entrance.

She made her in-ring debut on the November 4 episode of NXT, where she lost a match to Eva Marie. When she started her WWE career in NXT, she wrestled under the ring name “Marley.” Only a few months later, WWE gave her a new ring name, and she began to be known as “Liv Morgan.”

Liv Morgan Was Almost Liv Gallows In WWE

There is usually a backstory connected to a wrestler’s ring name. When Chris Van Vliet asked Morgan how she became “Liv Morgan,” she stated that it was only because WWE rejected all her other pitches.

Morgan revealed that she had pitched a long list of names she wanted to go by. However, WWE rejected every one of them. She was given two options at last: Liv Morgan or Liv Gallows, and she went with Liv Morgan. That’s it. There is no emotional backstory behind it.

Morgan said that she was not a big fan of the name “Morgan” at first and didn’t like it for some time, but now she likes it.

“I walked into work one day and they were like, ‘Okay, you’re either Liv Morgan or Liv Gallow, pick.’ I was like, ‘Oh.’ “I had known we had Luke Gallows at some point in time there. He wasn’t employed in that moment in time when I was there I don’t think, but I had known of him and his history.”

“So I was like, ‘I’ll be Liv Morgan,’ and that was really it. I never really liked Morgan. Now I like it. But I remember, first time signing an autograph, I was like, ‘I’m just gonna sign Liv,’ and that’s all I’ve done, that’s just stayed with me my whole career. It was only because I didn’t like Morgan.”

“I wanted a name that was obviously not a real human name. I wanted to be Illy Milly. That was my number one, I wanted to be Illy Milly really, really bad. Or I remember I pitched the name Penny Wap, because I loved Fetty Wap. And they just were like, ‘No, b*tch.'”

“All my names pretty much (were) denied. I sent in like two and a half lists of names, and they just were like, ‘No, no, no, no, no.’ And so I finally walked in and they were like, ‘These are your two options, pick one.’ And I was just like, ‘Okay.’ “But I love it now. Liv is very punny. There’s lots of room to play with the name Liv.” [H/T WrestleTalk]
