WWE Raw Preview – September 26

A rundown of what WWE is promoting for the September 26th episode of Raw including Matt Riddle facing Damian Priest, Seth Rollins taking on Rey Mysterio and a whole lot more.

This is one of those weeks where WWE is advertising several matches because there are five matches advertised on WWE.com for this week’s episode of Raw and a lot of them are fresh matchups as well.

Matt Riddle enters the dark void as he takes on Damian Priest

It was last Monday on Raw when Matt Riddle teamed up with Rey Mysterio to face Damian Priest & Finn Balor of The Judgment Day. Riddle & Mysterio lost the match in part because of Seth Rollins and other Judgment Day members at ringside. Riddle will face Rollins in a Fight Pit Match in less than two weeks at Extreme Rules.

Johnny Gargano and Kevin Owens form dream team to take on Alpha Academy

In a match that was set up in a backstage segment last week on Raw, Gargano & Owens will team up to face Alpha Academy’s Otis & Chad Gable. As a regular tag team, Otis & Gable might have the advantage due to how well they work together, but Owens is on a roll on Raw while Gargano beat Gable two weeks ago on Raw. No word on if Owens & Gable will use the “Panda Express” tag team name that they wanted to do in the indies many years ago.

AJ Styles to battle “Honorary Uce” Sami Zayn following a heated exchange over social media

This match was set up by Twitter trash talk. Styles mocked Zayn for excitedly getting an “Honorary Uce” shirt on Smackdown last week with Styles writing:

“Man, people will do anything for a T-shirt these days…”

Zayn responded with this tweet.

Styles responded with these words in a tweet:

“Sami, you have me shaking. Shaking in the boots that have garnered me the respect of the entire wrestling world.

Bring the kid.
Bring your dumb shirt… sorry your dumb gift shirt.
See you on Monday at #WWERaw.”

The “kid” is a reference to Sami’s ally in the Bloodline group, Solo Sikoa, who will team up with Zayn this coming Friday on Smackdown against Ricochet and Madcap Moss. Seeing Styles face Zayn on Raw is a fresh matchup between two talented veterans, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Bianca Belair set to go one-on-one with IYO SKY

Bayley defeated Alexa Bliss in the main event of last week’s Raw and after the match was over, Bayley’s Damage CTRL group that includes IYO SKY & Dakota Kai (the Women’s Tag Team Champions) beat up Bayley. The final scene from last week’s Raw featured Bayley delivering a promo to Belair saying this: “I’m in control now, Bianca. I get what I want, when I want and I want the Raw Women’s Title at Extreme Rules.”

On this week’s Raw, Belair will be able to send a message to Bayley’s ally IYO SKY in what should be a tremendous match between two talented women.

Rey Mysterio squares off with storied rival Seth “Freakin” Rollins

An old rivalry is renewed (remember the “eye for an eye” feud in the WWE PC days?) as Rey Mysterio faces off against Seth “Freakin” Rollins. This is also stemming from last week’s show after Rollins got involved in a tag team match where Mysterio & Riddle lost to The Judgment Day. It should be a very competitive matchup between two former WWE Champions.

Looking ahead to the WWE Extreme Rules Premium Live event on October 8th in Philadelphia, here’s what WWE has advertised so far:

* Fight Pit Match: Matt Riddle vs. Seth Rollins

* Extreme Rules Match for the Smackdown Women’s Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Ronda Rousey

* Raw Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley – It’s not official, but it should be made official on Raw since Bayley challenged Belair last week.
