WWE Possibly Introducing Queen Of The Ring

Queen Zelina WWE

It looks like WWE could be introducing a new royal institution in the company with the clearest sign yet that there will be a Queen of the Ring tournament.

The King of the Ring is a tournament held in WWE that dates back to 1985 when Don Muraco won the inaugural tournament. Between 1993 and 2002 it became a pay-per-view event with the likes of Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, and Brock Lesnar winning the tournament during this time.

Over the years it has been more sporadic in WWE but it was revived once again for the 2021 Crown Jewel event with Xavier Woods claiming the crown. At that event a Queen’s Crown tournament was also held with Zelina Vega winning that title – but now it looks like the company could have plans for a Queen of the Ring tournament.

WWE has filed to trademark the ‘Queen of the Ring’ phrase suggesting that the company could hold a tournament under that name. The filing is dated the 28th of October 2022 and listed under the goods and services associated with the filing are:

“Clothing, namely, tops, shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies; outerwear, namely, coats; bottoms, pants, shorts, underwear, dresses, pajamas, lingerie, clothing ties, scarves, gloves, swimwear; Halloween and masquerade costumes; footwear, namely, shoes, sneakers, slippers, flip flops, boots; headwear, namely, hats, caps; wrist bands; bandanas; championship trophy belts”
