WWE Originally Planned For nWo To Appear At WrestleMania 38

A new report has revealed that WWE had planned to bring the nWo to WrestleMania weekend prior to the tragic passing of Scott Hall.

It was 20 years ago that the nWo first appeared on WWE TV, with the original trio of Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash bringing the infamous brand to the promotion at 2002’s No Way Out. Only weeks later, WrestleMania 18 saw Scott Hall clash with ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin while Hulk Hogan faced off with The Rock in a match suitably promoted as ‘Icon vs. Icon’.

However, the trio became a duo during the event as Hulk Hogan turned babyface and shook hands with The Rock after ‘The Great One’ defeated him. This led to Hall and Nash attacking their former teammate.

Now, Fightful Select has revealed that WWE once again wanted to involve the nWo during WrestleMania weekend prior to the tragic passing of Scott Hall. The wrestling world mourned the loss of Hall earlier this month after he passed away on March 14th due to complications that arose following hip surgery.

Fightful say that, prior to Hall’s death, WWE was going to bring him and other members of the New World Order in to help promote the WWE 2K22 video game. The most expensive version of the game is the ‘nWo 4-Life’ edition which was released on the same day that Scott Hall passed away.

The report also noted Fightful is unsure if other members of the group might still appear to promote the game during WrestleMania weekend in Dallas.
