According to reports, WWE has officially signed an ex-AEW wrestler.

According to BodySlam.net, independent standout Starboy Charlie has reportedly signed with the Stamford-based promotion under the WWE ID program. The report surfaced shortly after Charlie worked the Friday, February 20, 2026 edition of Evolve tapings.

Starboy Charlie has previously made several appearances in AEW, competing on both AEW Collision and AEW Dark between 2023 and 2025.

“WWE continues to scout the world for their WWE ID program and NXT/main roster deals. Sources indicate to Bodyslam that Starboy Charlie has a deal with WWE. Starboy Charlie worked tonight’s EVOLVE tapings. It is believed that he has a WWE ID deal at this time,” [H/T Ringside News]

WWE Reportedly Interested In David Finlay

Meanwhile, Fightful Select reports that the Stamford-based promotion has also shown interest in signing David Finlay, who recently became a free agent after departing NJPW earlier this month.

Finlay had an emotional farewell at The New Beginning in Osaka on February 10, where he kissed the NJPW logo following a loss to Callum Newman.

Fightful further noted that the Stamford-based promotion and Finlay have been in discussions, though no agreement has been finalized. At the same time, NJPW is reportedly making strong efforts to re-sign Finlay to the company.

Sources in WWE have said while there has been contact between David Finlay and WWE, he isn’t factored in to creative plans at the moment. We have not heard any recent updates between David Finlay and WWE, but there was contact at one point between the two sides. As reported this week, NJPW is actively trying to re-sign him.
