WWE Interested In Signing Son Of Wrestling Legend

The WWE Hall Of Famer Who Says

For a few weeks now, the reports of WWE being interested in signing Fit Finlay’s son have made the rounds.

35-year-old David Finlay is a fourth-generation wrestler who competed in New Japan Pro-Wrestling until his contract expired recently.

Through the Japanese promotion’s affiliation with All Elite Wrestling, Finlay debuted in the Jacksonville-based company in 2022 in a losing effort to Adam Page.

He has also competed in other wrestling companies, including Impact Wrestling, CMLL, and Ring of Honor.

Earlier, reports claimed that even AEW was interested in signing the German-born wrestler. However, WWE’s familial ties to his father may lead to the Stamford-based company emerging as his next destination.

WWE Has Contacted David Finlay

A report by Fightful Select claims that there has been contact between the Triple H-led company and David Finlay, although no plans have been pitched factoring him into an ongoing storyline.

Sources in WWE have said while there has been contact between David Finlay and WWE, he isn’t factored in to creative plans at the moment.

The report also stated that NJPW had held talks with Finlay, hoping he would re-sign.

We have not heard any recent updates between David Finlay and WWE, but there was contact at one point between the two sides. As reported this week, NJPW is actively trying to re-sign him.

While there were talks held between both parties in the recent past, discussions seem to have simmered down, at least temporarily.

Triple H & Co. are currently focused on building towards WrestleMania 42 and the success of Elimination Chamber on February 28.

Judging by the latest report, the company is not committed to fast-tracking David Finlay’s hiring. So, even if he signs, it will happen at a later date.
