WWE Officially Confirms Sami Zayn’s First Appearance After Title Win
Sami Zayn is set to address the WWE Universe after capturing the Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions.
The Last Real Good Guy finally realized his dream of becoming a world champion in the Stamford-based company at Night of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Zayn entered the premium live event embroiled in a rivalry with Gunther and Cody Rhodes on SmackDown. Last Saturday, he defeated both superstars in a Triple Threat match for the Undisputed WWE Championship, pinning The American Nightmare to capture the title.
Tonight at NXT Great American Bash, Wade Barrett confirmed on commentary that the newly crowned champion will appear on the July 3 episode of SmackDown to address the WWE Universe, admitting that he could not wait to hear what Zayn has to say.
Sami Zayn Is Expected To Have A Short WWE Title Reign
On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the future of Sami Zayn’s Undisputed WWE Championship reign following his shocking victory at Night of Champions.
Meltzer compared Zayn’s reign to Darby Allin’s in AEW, predicting that The Last Real Good Guy’s run as champion will likely be short-lived.
The main event was a good match, real good. And, you know, the championship change was a surprise. I mean, it just depends on, you know, I mean, I don’t think that he’s the guy in their plans. It is very similar to Darby Allin in the sense that it’s something that at some point they were going to do. The Darby Allin thing turned out to be a pretty big success the way it was done, and this could be too. You know, I mean, it depends on what the story is.
I don’t see a long reign, but I would hope it’s longer than SummerSlam. You know, I mean, long enough to where it’s not like one of those things where it’s like, well, we finally gave it to him, but we didn’t mean it, you know. [H/T: Ringside News]
