Triple H Blasted After Sami Zayn’s WWE Title Reign: “Lowered The Bar”
Sami Zayn has been the talk of the town since his WWE Championship victory at Night of Champions.
During the Riyadh premium live event, Zayn overcame the odds stacked against him in the 3-way match, which included then-champion Cody Rhodes and Gunther.
The feud picked up steam after last week’s title match between Rhodes and Gunther, where Zayn served as the guest referee.
The match saw The Ring General order Sami Zayn to act as per his wishes, but Zayn continued to call the match straight down the line. This led to tensions unfolding between the two, which resulted in Zayn fast-counting a 3-count, costing Gunther the match.
Shortly afterward, Rhodes gave Gunther the rematch, only for Zayn to attack the Austrian, as the match ended in a no-contest.
On Saturday, Sami Zayn had the backing of the live audience in Riyadh as well as his “ride or die” fans around the world.
In the closing minutes, the 41-year-old rolled Rhodes over after the latter attempted a second consecutive Cross Rhodes. The referee counted 3, leading to Zayn becoming a first-time major champion on the main roster.
While the backstage reactions and reactions from Zayn’s fans were favorable, a former WWE Intercontinental Champion aired his grievance on social media, accusing Triple H of lowering the bar with the title.
Val Venis responded to an ESPN Twitter post, wherein he also said that Rhodes and Gunther were losers, and in his heyday, they would be carrying his bags and shining his shoes.
📢🤼‍♂️ Both of these losers would carry my bags, and polish my boots. The IT FACTOR guys like Hogan, The Rock, Austin, Undertaker and Triple H raised the bar of eligiblity to unheard of heights.
Its super cool that boss man Triple H lowered the bar to “dumpster on fire” levels so… https://t.co/2ICe0E8wSZ

Sami Zayn To Have A Short WWE Championship Reign?
Members of the internet wrestling community and WWE Universe believe that Sami Zayn’s singles major title reign has been long overdue.
Ideally, he should go into SummerSlam as the champion, but it remains to be seen whether or not Triple H & Co. keep the title on him till August.
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer, Zayn’s title run could be a short one because he does not think that WWE sees the Canadian superstar as “that guy.”
While explaining his point on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer likened Sami Zayn to AEW’s Darby Allin, predicting that Zayn’s title run could be somewhat similar to Allin’s.
The main event was a good match, real good. And, you know, the championship change was a surprise. I mean, it just depends on, you know, I mean, I don’t think that he’s the guy in their plans. It is very similar to Darby Allin in the sense that it’s something that at some point they were going to do. The Darby Allin thing turned out to be a pretty big success the way it was done, and this could be too. You know, I mean, it depends on what the story is.
I don’t see a long reign, but I would hope it’s longer than SummerSlam. You know, I mean, long enough to where it’s not like one of those things where it’s like, well, we finally gave it to him, but we didn’t mean it, you know.
If Sami Zayn remains the champion till SummerSlam, he will defend it. Zayn will find out on Monday whether or not Oba Femi, the King of the Ring tournament winner, chooses him as his opponent at SummerSlam.
