The landscape in NXT has changed drastically ever since WrestleMania 42, as many of the brand’s top stars have been called up to the main roster, leaving the brand with a lot of room to welcome new stars.

Two stars made their debut on the show during the first NXT show after WrestleMania 42, as Kam Hendrix and Indie Wrestling Sensation, Mason Rook, made their presence known on the show.

Rook immediately attacked the NXT Champion, Tony D’Angelo, in his first appearance on the brand. Following his impressive start, Rook was praised multiple times by John Cena on social media and was given a WWE NXT contract last week.

In his first match on the black-and-silver brand, he competed alongside Kam Hendrix in a tag team match and took on the team of the NXT Champion and the NXT North American Champion, Tony D’Angelo and Myles Borne.

Rook had Borne set up for the pin, but Hendrix tagged himself in the match at the last second and pushed Rook from the cover to pin Borne and take the glory for himself. This left Mason visibly frustrated and annoyed, but he didn’t make a big deal out of it.

A little later in the night, Hendrix was boasting about his win over Tony and Myles, making it seem like he single-handedly won the match. Rook interrupted him during his interview and brought up their opening match of the night.

Rook wanted Hendrix to give him equal credit for the win, but he refused, claiming that it’s every man for himself. Mason Rook then snapped and attacked Hendrix with the clothesline before squashing him in the turnbuckle and walking away to cheers from the crowd.
